The Karen's Hope Ataxia Benefit was started in 2001 by friends and family of Karen Frigstad with two major goals.
The first goal is to raise public awareness about Ataxia. This is an ailment that affects hundreds of thousands of people in the United States, yet few people have heard of it.
The second goal is to raise money to fund research to find treatments and a cure for Ataxia. 100% of the proceeds from the Karen's Hope Ataxia Benefit will be donated to the Bob Allison Ataxia Research Center at the University of Minnesota Medical Foundation.
Each year the benefit has grown to include more participants, more sponsors, more golfers and more donated auction items--resulting in an increased awareness of Ataxia and over $450,000 raised for Ataxia research.
